My name is Reid Faylor
and I am a UX designer, novelist, artist, and father living in Cincinnati. In 2010, I left Indiana for New York City, betraying my chemistry degree to perform comedy and make art. I worked in a perfume laboratory by day, and spent nights becoming a fixture in the comedy scene. While I strengthened my writing and performing, I also became a go-to designer for the scene, creating posters and album art for big name comedians, venues, bands, and podcasts. After securing a content creation job with Barnes & Noble, I spent years creating fiction and video series, writing articles, drawing comics, and other one-off gigs: branded content for Microsoft, toy voice actor scripts for Fisher-Price, a failed Comedy Central pilot with Parker Posey, an embarrassingly sincere Weezer cover band.
After Covid and fatherhood, my family decided it was time to leave the city so I could focus on my artistic endeavors. My latest project was writing, narrating, and spearheading the design for The Story Must Be Told, a fiction podcast by Post Everything Productions on the Last Podcast Network. We currently reach over 26,000 subscribers, and in 2022, we performed at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville for over 2000 fans in the Last Podcast Network Country Jamboree.
In 2023, I completed my Google UX Design Certification. I focused especially on incorporating accessibility into my designs and color schemes. I created a mobile app for pre-ordering albums, a responsive art tutorial website, and an app and website to unite communities around their neighbors struggling with housing.
I am currently releasing weekly chapters of my debut novel Dead Bird Songs as an audiobook podcast, putting out stories and books at The Story Must Be Told, drawing, and freelancing with UX design work and research. Send me an email! Let me write/design/draw for you.
